WR Amari Cooper, Alabama
Age: 20
Height: 6-1
Weight: 211

College Career: Was a very productive three-year starter at Alabama, earning freshman All-American honors in 2012 and capping off his career as a Heisman finalist in 2014. Led the nation with 124 catches last season, piling up 1,727 yards and 16 touchdowns, which won him the Biletnikoff Award (nation’s top receiver). Didn’t have much left to accomplish at Alabama and wisely left a year early.

Strengths: Has pretty much every quality you want in a receiver: size, speed, length, athleticism, great hands — Cooper is the total package. He’s also the most polished route runner in the draft, ready to start an NFL game next Sunday if you needed him to. Adjusts in mid-air and pulls in seemingly everything. Dangerous after the catch too.

Weaknesses: Injuries slowed Cooper down as a sophomore, but he finished that season strong and nothing could stop him as a junior. At 6-1, maybe you’d like him to be an inch or two taller, but he plays bigger than he measures.

Bears Outlook: The Bears have done their homework on Cooper and brought him into Halas Hall for a visit. If they’re serious about taking a wide receiver in the first round, it will be hard to pass on Cooper, who figures to be very high on their draft board. Then again, Cooper is so talented there’s a good chance he’ll be long gone by the seventh overall pick. But if he slips? Bears fans at the draft will be on the edge of their seats wondering if Cooper will be coming to Chicago.
