DE DeForest Buckner, Oregon
Age: 21
Height: 6-7
Weight: 291

College Career: A four-year contributor and two-year starter at Oregon, Buckner finished off his college career with a dominating senior season, posting 10.5 sacks and 17 TFLs while earning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Strengths: Buckner is a mammoth defensive lineman with outstanding length. Checks every box with strength, speed and athleticism. He has good instincts and reads plays well, sniffing out the ball. He got better every year at Oregon and still has an untapped potential.

Weaknesses: You can nitpick his technique if you’d like, but there’s very little to complain about in Buckner’s game.

Bears Outlook: Buckner is the best player at the Bears’ highest position of need. He played in a 3-4 defense at Oregon and would come in and be the Bears’ best five-technique immediately, providing a formidable trio with Eddie Goldman and Akiem Hicks. Could Buckner slip to the Bears at No. 11? He shouldn’t, but it can’t be ruled out. Ryan Pace, John Fox and Vic Fangio would have to be ecstatic if they end up with Buckner tonight.
