In this 10th episode of “Elton Jim” Turano’s “CAPTAIN POD-TASTIC,” Jim Turano fondly remembers attending his first Elton John concert on July 27, 1976, at The Chicago Stadium.  At the peak of Elton John’s worldwide popularity, and part of massive, 1976 U.S.A. tour, dubbed, “Louder Than Concorde (But Not Quite As Pretty),” Elton John performed four sold-out shows  in Chicago.  On the second night of this four-night run, Tuesday, July 27, 1976, an enthusiastic 12-year-old, die hard fan, Jim Turano, accompanied by his mother, Lorraine, attended his first Elton John concert.  Hear how the now-nicknamed, “Elton Jim” recounts all the memories of 40 years ago and that concert, and wonders if that 12-year-old kid would have ever imagined he’d actually meet Elton John one day and attend 163 more Elton John shows after that one (and counting!). “Pop Culture Club” member, Mick Kayler, who also attended one of the shows, adds his own memories and perspectives on what it was like to be an Elton John fan all those years ago.  And “Elton Jim” reveals why he REALLY goes to all these Elton John concerts!
