Former Illinois Governor Pat Quinn barks out loud and clear for the first time regarding his replacement Governor Bruce Rauner. “We don’t live in a monarchy,” he says. Quinn comments on the budget impasse.
Quinn has created Take Charge Chicago.
He’s crafted a pair of petitions: One is for Mayoral terms limits. Again, he implores “We don’t live in a monarchy.” Indeed, Chicago Mayors do have a history of serving slightly more than two terms, together the Daley’s served about 40 years.
Quinn also seeks to have independent City consumer advocate, as opposed to a Mayoral appointment.
Quinn explains how his career was boosted early on by legendary WGN Radio host Wally Phillips and his producer Marilyn Miller, encouraging his grass roots petition push. While Quinn is encouraging others to pound the flesh on the street to gain signatures (as he is doing), he’s also keenly aware that online many more signatures can be gotten. And these two issues no doubt resonate with Chicagoans at this time, that seems abundantly clear – so here’s a chance to have your voice heard.
I did ask why he’s chosen these issues? Does he intend to run for Mayor or Governor?
No doubt though, what you hear is what you get. A sincere guy in politics?
