DT Malcom Brown, Texas
Age: 21
Height: 6-2
Weight: 319

College Career: Two-year starter at Texas took his game to another level as a true junior in 2014. Racked up 15 TFLs, 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in his final collegiate season, earning All-American honors. Made easy decision to enter the draft early.

Strengths: Very good player against both the run and the pass. Size and athleticism matched by very few at the position. Scheme versatile with ability to play at numerous spots across the line, including nose. Still ascending with untapped potential.

Weaknesses: Needs coaching. Technique could be improved as he relies too much on his athleticism to get past blockers. Sort of a one-year wonder at Texas.

Bears Outlook: Brown isn’t your prototypical 3-4 anchor at the nose tackle position, but new Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio might like his ability to be used in multiple techniques along the line. The problem here is that the Bears might be reaching a little bit if they take Brown seventh overall and it’s doubtful he’s still available in the second round. If the Bears trade back a few picks in the first round, Brown would be a nice addition.
