Staff announcer / host


Dick Lashbrook joined WGN as a staff announcer in 1959. In 1960 he became the first host of The Great Outdoors, which he hosted until 1968. In 1969 he created, with producer Jim Disch, the original WGN “Christmas Newscast” which remains, in a slightly revised version, a popular feature of the station’s holiday programming each year.
