Rachel is a serial fire-starter.  She’s been a founder of eight different enterprises—in Chicago and New York City.  She’s raised money for her own ventures, invested in others, and advises clients on what it takes to get their ideas off the ground. She’s been Suzanne’s advisor on all things since 1998.

  • Launched Mind + Matter Studio (with Suzanne)
  • Founding Partner and Lead Strategist at Frequency540, a strategic communications agency that acquired ROI Ventures, a strategy firm that she and Suzanne grew over 6 years
  • With Suzanne, launched ROI Ventures’ media division (ROI Distributed, LLC), which produced their radio show, The Dirty Truth (on LTRN)
  • Program Director at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in New York, where she designed and executed funding programs totaling $20m annually
  • Founded Project 180, an incubator for joint ventures between nonprofit and commercial enterprise
  • In 1999, became a Partner at Divine, Inc., a venture capital firm and incubator, where she was responsible for strategy and acquisitions for its ‘social markets’ division
  • Began her career on the design team for the MacArthur Foundation ‘genius’ awards
  • Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University
  • Guest lecturer at New York University, Lesley University, and University of Chicago
  • Has served on the Board or Advisory Committee of: TED Conference, the American Center in Paris, Center for Cultural Innovation, the James Irvine Foundation, Open Society Institute (Soros Funds), the National Endowment for the Arts, Streb Dance Company, and Poets House, Inc.
